In a time when a lot of games are more about storyline and atmosphere than actual gameplay, Square Enix's Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call is a breath of fresh air. There is no elaborate storyline or hand-holding and there's not a linear corridor in sight. The entire game is about the music of the stellar Final Fantasy series and invites gamers to perfect the art of slashing, tapping and holding notes. It is a simple premise with a ridiculous amount of room to grow and improve - practice makes perfect, and mastering all 200+ songs from the title requires dedication and ninja-lika reflexes. Whether you are familiar with the music from the Final Fantasy series or not, if you're looking for a skill-based game that puts 100% of the impetus on the ability of the player then I can recommend few on the 3DS more than Curtain Call.
