MadCatMonkey is the "Full" version of my nickname; I use it when "MadCat" is already taken on various forums, or to distinguish myself from other "MadCats" that I've seen around, or when I just feel like gettin' down with my monkey self.
The evolution of my nickname is a long story. I got a nickname in high school from a friend, who said it translated roughly to "insane/crazy cat", something like that, but with more connotations I can't remember, about being the deity of insanity/chaos, etc... (My other nickname was "Chaos Prime"... I'm sure you can imagine what I was like in high school. lol) So I started calling myself "MadCat" as a basic translation of the name, and used it as my 'handle' for all my writing and drawing, online and off, and started using the =^-^= symbol for my signature on my work.
Years later I was reading about Chinese astronomy and learned that my sign was the Monkey, which seemed very appropriate as well, given my personality. So I appended the "Monkey" onto my "MadCat", especially, as I mentioned before, in places were plain "MadCat" was taken, and also to distinguish it from, say, the Battletech unit, or the tech company called "Mad Cat", etc...
So basically, either one works; i just use MadCat most of the time because it's shorter and easier to say, more like a name... MadCatMonkey is longer and more like an online handle. (also I'm a little more used to MadCat since I've had it longer, around a decade or so.)
Thus endeth the (probably unnecessary) lesson on nomenclature.
I want my job description to be: "gets paid to draw sexy ladies."
