Sadly, no. It did pass there, by a disgustingly large margin, 62-37.
http://morallowground.com/2011/02/03/io ... -marriage/The measure now heads to the Iowa Senate, which is controlled by Democrats. If it somehow manages to pass there, it must be voted on again by both the House and Senate in 2013 before being placed on the ballot.
So we now have to hope that it will be killed in the Senate; and if not there, in the second round of votes in 2013, or if finally placed before voters. If it makes it all the way onto the ballot and is voted in? I lose even more faith in humanity.

What makes me extra-sad is, apparently Iowa is one of the few states (5 or so?) that actually does have same-sex marriage right now. This measure actually wants to strip same-sex couples of a right that they've fought long and hard to achieve, one that all people deserve.
