Okay, so we're going to try this:
Effectively immediately, there is one Injured Reserve slot indicated in our league Excel database. At any time, you may designate a player with a catastrophic injury as IR. That player may not return to play for the entirety of the current season.
Mechanically, the ESPN site lacks an option to remove a player so designated. They will be dropped into the free agent pool, but they are not valid waiver targets unless their owner outright releases them. An official list of IR players will be kept here, and in our database.
If an owner claims an IR player, that player will be manually released back into the free agent pool by the League Manager or Commissioner, and the owner will not be compensated in any way for wasting their waiver priority.
An IR player may be returned to the active roster at any time during the offseason. This may necessitate creating roster space for the returning player.
The number of bench slots is now reduced to six.
