Not Firefly, honest.

So, if anyone was wondering where the idea for this arc came from, let me say now that it's not a comment on Firefly.
Basically, Arturo and I where hanging out at Dave's place while he was playing "Starflight" a rather awesome game for the Sega Genesis. Dave had named the crew of his ship after us, and as he was playing, Arturo and I would act out our crew's responses. Arturo was the Science officer, I was Medical, James was Engineer/Technical, and there was another one I forget. We came up with back stories, relationships and scenarios. It was fun, and some clever bits appeared in the process.
Back before we started the website, when we were still thinking of doing print comics and trying to come up with projects this Idea came up. It was prospectively to be called "Space Schleps". This was back in '98 or so.
Also, Dr. Dan is not Simon Tam. Simon Tam is a Doctor who was a Fugitive. Dan is a Fugitive pretending to be a doctor. Difference.

I've never been a huge fan of Penny Arcade. I think it's funny at times and I respect their professional acumen, but it's just never really been my cup of tea. That being said however, I LOVE their Catsby and Twisp strips. I don't know why. They speak to me. It's so random it's beautiful. It always makes me happy to see a new one.
