Got A Minute?
It's almost 10 PM here in L.A., and I decided to post today's strip a bit early. I'm feeling tired and I wanted to do it now before I forget tomorrow morning.
So yeah, my buddy Dee at Direman Press is extremely excited. After months of setbacks, Direman Press will finally re-launch, according to Dee's post, by Thursday morning. Truth be told, I'm very curious to see what it'll all be like myself, not just because I've been drawing The Adventures of Dave the Direman since 2005, but because Squishy Ink, the official name of our little company, will be one of the first to throw in with Direman Press. There've been a LOT of rough moments, but this next little check-point in my life has me looking forward to the futures of both Direman Press and Squishy Ink.
Squishy Comics, in its current incarnation, is a little over a year old now. I can't help but think how lucky I am to be working on two projects I enjoy, which others seem to enjoy as well. What I find most amusing is just how close to life Squishy Comics is. Believe it or not, it was never intended to be that way, it just happened. Maybe down the line I'll write up how we actually came to be.
The gallery now offers a background for each of what Dan and I consider to be the main cast of Squishy Comics, those characters which are, have been, or will be the main focus of our stories. Take your pick of backgrounds for your home computer, office PC, and even your screen saver; I currently have the entire cast in a slide show as my screen saver. Collect them all!

Good, Bad...
Either way Joel is still, at his core, a stubborn bastard. This would seem to be a point/check for his "Evil" (though I'd say more Selfish in this case) side, who "done shot up the other guy but good". But in keeping with the aforementioned character trait, I wouldn't be surprised to see "Good" Joel (mini-Joel?) come back to even the score....with a pair of .45s....wearing a trench coat....possibly sliding down a banister or riding a food cart...
I'm just sayin'..

It's True.
I don't see it as his "good" and "bad" side. It's more of his "dude, instant gratification!" versus, "dude, that shit'll do you in fast... let's down us some whiskey instead" side.

Good. Bad. Joel's the guy with the gun.
Personally I always imagined the shotgun as the villain's firearm of choice. So the red guy would blast his counterpart in the gut. Then that lil angel busts a last stand and sends a bullet right through that lil devil bastard's head.
But however it goes, in the end, Joel's gonna smoke anyway. Like Arturo would eat bacon.
I'm fine with guns and cigarettes. Just ya know, don't shoot your eye out. Or mine.
