One other thing
That gem of wisdom about "Perfect practice makes perfect" is from my old fencing coach and it's damn well true. If you practice doing something wrong, you can do it wrong REALLY well. That's one of the few things I've actually held onto. If you're going to work for something, do it right.
Unless you're writing a webcomic... then you can be a slacker.
