Other crazy things to try with Civilization V:

Have the Aztecs cross the Atlantic and raise hell in Europe.

Have China decide to actually explore and colonize the Americas after discovering it.

Have all the powers possible in the game start on a Pangaea-like landmass. Hilarity (and bad blood) ensues.
